We Care: Helping our local organizations amid COVID-19

The current COVID-19 pandemic has caused many small businesses and non-profit organizations struggle to make ends meet as a result of social distancing and closures. During this time, our We Care community outreach program has continued to come together and support our local community any way we can.

This month, we have teamed up with Friends of the Poor – a non-profit organization in Scranton, Pennsylvania whose mission is to provide basic needs like food, clothing, household items and emergency assistance to help ease the burden of living in poverty for individuals in need.

So far, we have raised over $880 that Friends of the Poor will use to continue their weekly food drives for local families.

Many organizations in the area have unfortunately had to close their doors but are working to come up with new ways to assist the community. As an organization that runs largely on volunteer help, Friends of the Poor could use your helping hand. Currently, volunteers are in desperate need for plastic grocery bags to put together care packages.

The Scranton Tomorrow Foundation is also running a program where you can purchase gift cards for Scranton restaurants that can then be distributed to families in need. This way, both small businesses and those who are in need are being helped despite the current crisis.

If you are unable to make a physical donation, monetary contributions will still go a long way. If you would like to donate to Friends of the Poor, visit their website here.
