Pathways is honored to announce its sponsorship for the ALS Association’s “Walk to Defeat ALS,” their biggest fundraiser of the year in Syracuse, NY on September 22nd, 2018.
The ALS Foundation is a near-and-dear cause for the Pathways team. Pathways’ Partner and Chief Operating Officer, Mary Manzo’s brother, Jeff, was diagnosed with ALS last November.
Since his diagnosis, Jeff has since lost all use of his arms and legs. His wife Edna, an incredibly supportive and compassionate human being, assists him in all daily functions: Eating, bathing, dressing, movement, etc.
ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a debilitating disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and even breathe. There is currently no cure.
At this time, the average life expectancy of ALS is around 2 ½ years and costs amount to nearly $250,000 per year for medical expenses. There are over 20,000 Americans who suffer with this disease.
The ALS Association is an American nonprofit organization that raises money to go towards research, treatment and awareness promotion. The ALSA was founded in 1985 and has since committed over $67 million for research efforts. Since the launching of the association’s biggest fundraising event in 2000, the walk has raised more than $200 million.
The team at Pathways encourages you to help us donate to this important cause. Our personal goal is $10,000 for our team “THE ALS All STARS.”
If you are unable to attend the walk, please send a donation via this link to the ALS donation site.
A donation of any amount, big or small, is highly appreciated. Please join us in movement towards creating a world without ALS.
Thank you,
Team Pathways
