We Care: Children’s Advocacy Center holiday donation

The month of December is dedicated to spreading holiday cheer and kindness. As a continuation of our We Care community outreach program, our Pathways team is dedicating the months of December and January to support the children of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Just in time for Christmas, our team has collected various amounts of donations.

The CAC is a private, nonprofit, charitable organization whose mission is to provide care and support in the assessment and treatment of children and teens who have been victims of abuse and neglect. Aside from providing everyday necessities and other wish list items for children in need, the wonderful volunteers were able to provide 1,676 child abuse intervention services to 839 children and adolescents in Northeastern Pennsylvania in 2017.

Some of these services include medical exams and assessments, trauma therapy, counseling coordination, child abuse awareness and prevention education and forensic interviews.

Education and prevention programs are a key component of the CAC’s critical services. In 2016, training and education was provided to over 3,226 adults and children in communities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania in itself. This is where the process of healing and recovery begins for children and teens who have experienced the unthinkable. These individuals are paired with trained professionals on-site to receive proper care and be guided on a path towards a fulfilling adulthood.

The CAC expresses that child abuse is a community problem which requires a community response. That being said, contributions big or small are greatly appreciated. It’s never too late to donate! For more information, visit the CAC website here.
